Margaret Imogene Kipp's Obituary
Margaret Imogene Kipp departed this world on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, in Decatur Memorial Hospital with her daughter Marsha by her side. Imogene died from respiratory complications following surgery. Services will be Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 2 pm in Graceland/ Fairlawn Funeral Home, with Rev. James Wills officiating. Visitation will be Monday, December 26, 2011 from 5 – 7 pm in the funeral home. A wake will follow services on Tuesday in Rocco's. Friends and family are invited to participate in a celebration of her life. Imogene was born on January 24, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Lucy Bourne (Bivens). She was born and raised in Clinton, Illinois and graduated from Clinton High School. During her high school years, she was one of the original 'car hops' at George's Shack. Imogene was married to John Eugene Kipp January 24, 1948. Together they had two children Marsha Lynn and Jo Ann (Jody). Imogene started her working career at American Farmers Insurance Company in Decatur, IL. She left the insurance company to work for Doctor V.P. Zarcone as a medical secretary. She worked for the good doctor for 20 years. Upon his retirement, she purchased and became part owner of the Lawndale Tap in Lawndale, IL. Her most recent position was program assistant for East Central Illinois Area Agency on Ageing. She retired twice from this position. Imogene was one of the most upbeat, optimistic, loving and caring people you could ever hope to meet. Her compassion for others ran very deep in her sole. She loved life and was always up for a good challenge. She overcame many hardships and much sadness in her life but, always came through things with that wonderful smile and sparkling blue eyes. Although Imogene will be greatly missed by family and friends, we all must remember her greatest gift to us: Life goes on and so must we. At times like this Imogene felt that family and friends should find comfort and peace in supporting one another. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucy, her ex-husband John, her daughter Jody, and her brother Charles Bourne. She is survived by her daughter and best friend Marsha Cole, only grandson, Shane Cole (wife Kim); granddaughters, Heather Wahlbrink (Scott), Michelle Hawkins (Jeremy), great-grandchildren, Kinsee Williams (Dave) and Tony Ramsey; great-great-grandchildren Gavin, Drew, Conor, Hanah and JJ.
