Margel Amenda's Obituary
Decatur – Margel Amenda, of Monticello, Illinois, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:17 a.m. in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Amenda was born in Mattoon, Illinois, a daughter of Curtis and Eva Walters Wisley. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Monticello, IL and the Order of the Eastern Star and worked as a legal secretary for Henson, Morthland, Bolen, & Morthland Attorneys for 55 years. She also worked at the Signal Depot, Borg Warner, and the United States Postal Service. She married George Amenda in Decatur, Illinois, on January 6, 1936.
Surviving are sons, Jeffrey L. Amenda and his wife Bonita of Monticello, Illinois; Mark D. Amenda and his wife Lynne of Streator, Illinois; grandsons: Corey, Mark Jr. (Crystal), and Kenneth (Heather); granddaughter Janet (Ryan) and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 13, 1992, two brothers and one great grandchild.
Private family services with no visitation will be held. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to: Shriners Hospitals for Crippled Children and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
