Marie E. Fischer's Obituary
Decatur-Marie E. Fischer, 89, of Decatur, passed away at 9:48 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2009 in her residence with her family by her side.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Marie’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 in the chapel of Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home with Father Jeff Grant, presider. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with “Flight Home” Ceremony will be in Graceland Cemetery. Marie was born April 20, 1919 in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of William and Catherine (Walker) Sweeney. She was raised in Oologah, Oklahoma. Marie worked at Illinois Bell retiring in May of 1976 after twenty-three years of service. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and flowers. She married Robert F. Fischer August 20, 1938 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on September 29, 1997.
She leaves behind her son; Robert F. Fischer, Jr. of Decatur, daughters; Darlene McIntyre of Decatur and Cathy Garrels and husband Terry of Clewiston, Florida, eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Marie was greeted in heaven by her parents, husband, and two brothers.
