Marilyn Markwell's Obituary
Marilyn Markwell, 83, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away September 16, 2023, at Imboden Creek Senior Living.
Marilyn was born in Decatur on March 29, 1940, the daughter of Chester and Dorothy (Ping) Markwell. After graduating from St. Teresa High School in 1958, she began working as a medical transcriptionist, a career that lasted forty years. She loved dogs and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, taking road trips, and shopping at garage sales.
Marilyn is survived by her brother Thomas (Sherry) Markwell of Forsyth; sisters-in-law Judy Markwell and Shirley Markwell, both of Decatur; nieces Sheri Hartsook of Standard City, Lori (Mark) Weatherford of Decatur, and Diane (Daniel) Waldrop of Decatur; many nieces and nephews, including Blake, Bryan, Jeremy, Brandon, Tommy, and Bridget; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gerald Markwell and Donald Markwell.
Services for Marilyn will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am and will be followed by a Funeral Service at 11am. Entombment will take place after the service.
