Marilyn J. Merry's Obituary
Marilyn J. Merry, 84, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 6:40 P.M. on Thursday (07-10-2025) in her home.
Marilyn was born on September 12, 1940, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Harold Smeltzer and Betty (Easterling) Smeltzer. She married James S. Merry on April 12, 1957, in Taylorville, IL. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2024.
She was a homemaker for most of her life and worked outside her home in later years. Marilyn was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She attended Lakeview High School.
Marilyn is survived by her son Kevin Merry and wife Joan of Oakley, IL; grandchildren: Ashley England and husband Dale, Lance Merry, Aaron Luy and wife Kisha, Kyle Merry and wife Dakota; great grandchildren Jolee and Ryker and step great grandchildren Shaedon and Estin; one great-great-grandchild Beau; and one sister Karla Campbell and husband James of Lexington, KY.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, daughter Jody Etnire, sister Carolyn Jimison, and two brothers Robert and Roger Smeltzer.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday (07-16-2025) at Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday (07-16-2025) at Holy Family Catholic Church with a burial to follow at Mt. Gilead Cemetery, Decatur, IL.
