Marilyn J. Thornton's Obituary
Marilyn J. Thornton, 94, of Decatur, IL, passed away at 3:25 P.M. on Monday (02-10-2025) at Imboden Creek Senior Living.
Mrs. Thornton was born on October 16, 1930, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William and Mary Wendell. She was the owner of Thornton Welding Inc. in Decatur, IL, and a 62-year member of Salem Baptist Church. She married Oliver F. Thornton on June 17th, 1950, in Decatur, IL. He passed away on October 4, 1988.
Surviving are her son Oliver Mark Thornton and wife Cheryl of Decatur, IL; son-in-law Gary Ventress of Decatur, IL; brother Robert Wendell and wife Sheila and sister Deva Doty and husband Bill both of Mt. Zion, IL; 8 grandkids,16 great-grandkids, and 3 great-great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 daughters Cindy Ventress, Linda Oyler, Kathleen Thornton and one grandchild.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday (02-15-2025) at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery with visitation 9:00 A.M. - 10:00 A.M. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum.
