Marilyn Walsh's Obituary
Marilyn B. Walsh 87 of Taylorville passed away on April 17, 2024, at Taylorville Care Center.
Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Stonington, IL on Monday, April 22 at 11:00 am with Reverend Piotr Kosk. Marilyn’s family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marilyn was born in Peoria, IL to Earl and Meltha (Shay) Lyle on November 4, 1936. She married Francis “Bud” Walsh in Peoria on September 8, 1956. He preceded her in death in November 2023. She was the former church music director and a member of the Greater Decatur Chorale. She and her husband Bud lived in Blue Mound and owned The Red Fox for many years and were cherished members of the community. She was very active in the Catholic Church and Koinonia. Music was a real joy in her life as well as her family and her faith.
Marilyn is survived by her five children and their partners, Francis “Buzz” Walsh (Shawna Houser), Cherie (William) Burkhart, David (Susan) Walsh, Mark (Karyn) Walsh and Patrick (Allison) Walsh, her twelve grandchildren, Jessica Zagelow, Elizabeth Burkhart, Cara Burkhart, Ray Walsh, Corey Walsh, Stephanie Rutherford, Amy Molina, Ethan Walsh, Alissa St. Blanc, Adam Walsh, Grayson Walsh, Alexander Walsh, and her fourteen great grandchildren, Hunter McCarty, Alexa McCarty, Logan Zagelow, Griffin Zagelow, Kaylin Zagelow, Jocelynn Rutherford, Matthew Rutherford, Madelyn Kates, Audra Rutherford, Paul St. Blanc, Nora St. Blanc, Olivia St. Blanc and Emme Burkhart; great-great grandchildren, Landon Zagelow and Cooper Zagelow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Stonington, IL or The Greater Decatur Chorale.
