Gloria Benson
Marjorie Sterioti was born Marjorie Irene Brown. She was 1 of 4 children born of Thelma "Babe" Brown married to Gus Sylvester Brown. She moved to Chicago when she was 17 and at some point met and married Michael Sterioti. They moved to Stonington, IL. in 1961. During this time Michael suffered a tree trimming accident that left him unable to work for a prolonged period of time. During this period Marjorie became an LPN and worked at St. Vincent's Hospital in Taylorville, IL. They moved to Decatur in 1968, She was an excellent seamstress and was an exceptional artist who could draw or paint with pencils, chalk, watercolor, or oils. Even though she had no depth perception due to losing the sight in her right eye to Glaucoma she could do both portrait or still life paintings. She was a very good cook who had done catering during her younger years while living in Chicago. She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, Mother and Father Thelma and Gus Brown, 2 sisters Marilyn and Imogene, and 1 brother Richard. She had one child a daughter Gloria Jean-Michaeline Sterioti Benson and one grandchild a boy Michael Joseph Sterioti.
