Marjorie Ann Van Meter's Obituary
Decatur-Marjorie Ann Van Meter passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on May 18, 2013 at the age of 83.
Margie was born February 11, 1930 to the late Orville & Savina Laughery, the fourth of five children.
Margie graduated from Decatur High School in 1948 and worked at Leath’s Furniture Store and Reed’s Shoe Store. On June 8, 1950, she married Robert Van Meter, the love of her life. Over the next 63 years, they lived in Illinois, California and Florida, returning eventually to Decatur.
Margie is survived by her beloved husband, loving son Kent (Lori), cherished grandchildren Erik, Rob (Christy) Rudolf, Angela (Tom) Solomon, dear brother Don (Margaret) Laughery and sister Helene Mounts. Margie is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers James and Robert Laughery.
Graveside services will be 12 Noon Monday, May 20, 2013 in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 AM ' 12 Noon Monday in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.
