Mark Bentley's Obituary
Decatur-Mark Bentley, 53, of Decatur, passed from this life on Monday, January 6, 2014 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Mark was born January 5, 1961 in Decatur, the son of Everett and Patricia (Butt) Bentley. After graduating from Douglas McArthur High School he was employed at Plaza T.V. for over 30 years and was then employed at Akorn Pharmaceutical.
He loved watching sports and Nascar. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings and St. Louis Cardinals Fan. He loved fishing and playing pool. He was on the Busch Pool league which became the American Pool Players Association from 1982-2010. He played on Renegade, Shooters and Screwballs teams and he was ranked 7. Prior to his illness, his greatest enjoyment was riding his Harley with his friends. He greatly enjoyed life and being around his family, friends and especially being Ornery!
Surviving and knowing that Mark bas been freed of all pain are his loving girlfriend, Tracy Mason; Eddie “Fat Dog”; stepson, Jason Brown; sister, Pam (Dennis) Kates; nephew, Mike (Kim) Parker; niece, Mandy Dunn (Michael Maulden); great nieces, Kaitlyn, Kiley, Karley, Clemmie, Maddy; many cousins; and extended family, Gary and Sue Mason; Malissa, Jake, and Mason Markham; and many life-long friends especially Mike Taylor and Freddie Koontz.
He is reunited in heaven with his parents. Along with his friends who have lost the battle to cancer as he did.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at DMH ICU Unit, and especially to Brian.
Services to celebrate Mark’s life will be 11:00 am Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm Friday, January 10, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery with “Flight Home Ceremony.” Per Mark’s wishes, sports clothing or Harley fan clothing attire is highly encouraged.
