Mark Kendall Dehority II's Obituary
Mark Kendall Dehority II, 59, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2026.
Mark was born in Decatur on February 21, 1966, the son of Mark and Diana (Ashby) Dehority. He married Tracy Carl on June 5, 1993, in Decatur.
Mark worked as an accountant for the State of Illinois Department of Corrections in Springfield. He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He enjoyed boating on Lake Decatur, traveling, and going to concerts. He was an avid sports fan whose favorite teams included the Rams, the Blues, and the Cardinals. He will long be remembered for his warm, outgoing personality. He loved people, and they responded in kind. Most of all, he cherished his wife and children. He never missed an opportunity shower them with affection. He was a faithful attendee at his children’s sporting events, quite often taking on coaching duties. His love and guidance supported them in every step of their lives. He will be greatly missed.
Mark is survived by his wife Tracy; children Kendall (Brooke Burke) Dehority, Paige Dehority, and Kannon Dehority, all of Decatur; sister Shelley (Shaun) Sassano; father Mark and stepmother Lynette Dehority of Moweaqua, IL; parents-in-law Bob and Carol Carl; sister-in-law Sherri (Bryan) Shelton; nieces and nephews Seven Sassano, Dominico Sassano, Lula Sassano, Salvatore Sassano, Courtney Benton, and Brooke (Jon) Fuller; and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Diana Dehority, grandmother Lula Mae Ashby, and nephew Giovanni Sassano.
Visitation for Mark will be from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, March 6, at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 7, at the funeral home. Burial in Graceland Cemetery will take place at a later date.
