Mark Steven Pittman's Obituary
Decatur – Mark Steven Pittman died Sunday April 2, 2017 in his home.
The only thing Mark loved more than telling stories was telling them again. Stories about the Cardinals winning the World Series, about taking his family to Illini games, and about endless pranks on the “kids” at the railroad.
He’s told stories about driving across the country in his new Corvette, about impersonating Jack Clark and an original Chippendale dancer, and about the superior intelligence of his dog, Maddie.
The thing he loved to talk about most was his family. Numerous stories about the infamous “Pittman Boys” and their flaming arrows and errant BB’s, vacation fun with his wife Barb, and stories about his concert adventures with his daughter, Erin.
Everyone who has ever known Mark Pittman has more than a few stories to tell of their own, so in lieu of a formal visitation, the Pittmans would like to invite family and friends to their home on Saturday, April 8, between 1 and 4pm to share a story and a Natty Light in memory of Bopper, the best friend, husband and dad you could ask for.
Mark retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 35 years of service. He is survived by his wife Barb, daughter Erin Pittman, son-in-law Eric Weir, granddaughter Eliza Pittman Weir, brother Dean Pittman (Tina), and sister Debbie Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Dean Pittman Sr, Peg Pittman and life-long friend Don Gentry. Memorials are suggested to Northeast Community Fund at 825 N. Water Street, Decatur, IL.
Cremation services were provided by Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 2091 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur, IL 62526. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
