DECATUR — Mark David Unruh, 48, of Decatur passed away Thursday (May 7, 2015) after a long illness.
Graveside services were held May 11, in Hamel. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials: St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cross Tower Fund or Homeward Bound Pet Shelter.
Mark was born March 9, 1967, in Peoria, the son of Michael and Janet Suhre Unruh. He was a 1985 graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. He attended the University of Missouri, Columbia and graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a degree in accounting. He was a talented golfer, winner of Decatur Junior Golf, winner of the Big 12 Tournament, represented the state of Illinois in the National Insurance Youth Classic and enjoyed competing in all local tournaments. He was also a member of the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale golf team. He was owner and manager of Sun ‘N Fun Golf and Swim Club. He was known for his humor, compassion and love of animals.
Surviving are his parents of Forsyth; brother, Michael Unruh Jr. of Decatur; sister, Cathy Unruh of Los Angeles, Calif..
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
