Mark W. Van Rheeden's Obituary
Mt. Zion—Mark Van Rheeden, 58, passed away unexpectedly August 21, 2013, in his home.
Visitation will be Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. at First General Baptist Church, 2825 S. Baltimore Ave., Decatur, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 4:00 P.M. Memorials may be contributed to First General Baptist Church. The family requests casual attire.
Mark was born November 8th, 1954, in Decatur to Roger Victor and Virginia Ruth (Roderick). He was employed by ADM. Mark’s passion was golf. He was a member of the Nelson Park Golf Association and held the Nelson Park Golf Course record (56) for over two decades. He was a member of the inaugural Decatur Signature Cup team in 2007. In addition to golf, he also enjoyed bicycling, bowling, and watching his daughters perform.
Mark leaves behind his wife Anne of Mt. Zion, IL; daughters Amy Ann and Amanda Jean; brother Rusty (Beverly) Van Rheeden of Decatur; sisters Vicki (Tony) Engle of Thiensville, WI; Cheryl (Steve) Jestis of Tolono, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Molly Ruth.
Mark always exhibited pure patience and joy with those closest to him. “It’s not how you drive; it’s how you arrive.”
