Martha Hall's Obituary
Martha Hall of Decatur, IL, “went home” on March 25 after a sustained and courageous battle with cancer and treatments.
Martha married Ken Hall shortly after high school graduation and the two remained married for 46 happy years. She was extremely close with her two sons and their wives – Brian and RuthAnne; and David and Nina. She absolutely adored her five grandsons – Andrew (14); Jacob (12); Ryan (6); Danny (4); and Zac (8 months). She shared a special friendship with her sister, Sara.
Martha lived most of her early life in Georgetown IL. She and Ken moved to Decatur in 1994. She was an active member of South Shores Christian Church, where she was a popular and frequent singer. Martha loved fishing – both on Lake Decatur as well as in Chetek, WI, where she and Ken took many vacations. She was a die-hard Cubs fan and an avid reader. But what she really loved was anything related to her grandkids.
She worked as a lab technician at various locations throughout Danville, IL, and Decatur, IL. Throughout her career Martha was known for helping patients and colleagues alike, and she made many strong friendships with co-workers.
Martha is remembered by friends and family as a deeply caring person who always supported and counseled others through personal and health challenges – even as she was battling her own. Many people credit her for helping them through the toughest parts of their lives.
She will be deeply missed by the many friends and family members who remember her as the kind of wife, mom, grandma, sister and friend everyone would want in their lives.
The family will host a celebration of Martha’s life at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 31, 2018 in the South Shores Christian Church, 130 Bristol Drive, Decatur, IL 62521, with Pastor Steve Ingram officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Friday, March 30, 2018 at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations to South Shores Christian Church can be made in her memory (130 Bristol Drive, Decatur, IL 62521).
