Martha Mayberry's Obituary
Martha J. Mayberry (Dalton) was carried home in the arms of Jesus on July 23, 2017 at Decatur Memorial Hospital with precious family and friends by her side.
Beloved wife of David L Mayberry of 42 years, dearest mother of Ricky Ernst, Richard Ernst, James Ernst, Gregory (Lena) Mayberry, DaLette Stowell, all of Decatur Illinois, Tina (Gerald) Simons of Missouri and Anthony (Andrea) Mayberry of Alabama. Cherished grandmother of 14 and great grandmother of 21. Also surviving are her siblings, Max Dalton(Phyllis) of Catlettsburg, KY; David Dalton (Georgie) of Dexter, NM; Carol Garcia, Jill Votaw (Dwain), Judy Martin, Vickie Burns, Denise Ingram (Wayne) all of Roswell, NM, and other family and close friends too numerous to count.
Martha was born May 6, 1936 in Bethany, Illinois, to Walter & Esther (Stevens) Dalton. She was a skilled secretary and later retired from the assembly lines at Borg Warner York Automotive after 18 years of service. She was devout in her faith and had a heart bigger than life itself. She loved her family so much. A member of the Camp Wilson Foursquare Gospel Church, she dearly loved the members, who were like family and brought her much joy and happiness. She was a fabulous cook, enjoyed baking, loved her four legged babies (especially Rosie), her dolls and cherished every tiny trinket and gift that was ever given to her. It’s difficult to write the many wonderful things about Martha; it would be easier to write the bad on the head of a pin.
Martha was preceded in death by her mother and father, Walter and Esther Dalton, siblings Walter Dalton, Paul Dalton, Roger Dalton, Cheryl Inks and Margaret Dalton.
Funeral service to celebrate Martha’s life will be 11 AM on Thursday July 27, 2017 in Camp Wilson Foursquare Church with Pastor Brian Canaday officiating. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorial are suggested to the Camp Wilson Foursquare Church.
