Martha Jean Smith's Obituary
Decatur-Martha Jean Smith, 87, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.
She was born March 9, 1927 in Decatur, the daughter of George and Florence (Barger) Pfiefer. She was a devoted wife and homemaker. She was previously employed at the Anna B. Millikin Home. She was a longtime member of Riverside Baptist Church and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and embroidery. She married Richard N. Smith September 21, 1946. He preceded her in death December 3, 1972.
She leaves behind her children Linda Childress of Long Creek, Debra Dixson of Decatur, and Richard Smith of Long Creek, brother Jack Pfiefer and wife Rose of Decatur, sister Ellen Marsh of Decatur, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, three brothers, six sisters, and granddaughter Jody Childress-Summers.
The family would like to give a special thanks to all of the nurses and staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Martha’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to Imboden Creek Living Center or the Alzheimer’s Association.
