Martin Luther Puckett's Obituary
Martin Luther Puckett, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away April 7, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Martin was born August 20, 1928, in Barnhill, IL, the son of Jewell Eldon and Lavina B (Atteberry) Puckett. He married his “one love” Dolores C. (Doolin) on May 29, 1954, in Decatur. He is survived by his children Linda F. Yborra (Michael) of Pekin, IL, Martin L. Puckett (Dianna) of Decatur, IL and Susan J. Puckett of Decatur, IL, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and brother Steven C. Puckett of Tower Hill, IL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers and one great-granddaughter.
Martin was a Korean Era Veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged October 31, 1952. He was a foreman at Mueller Company for 42 years retiring in 1990. He enjoyed dancing with his “one love”, fishing with his family, antiques, garage and estate sales and driving his Lincoln. One of his greatest joys were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid reader and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball and Illini basketball teams.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Decatur, IL.
He will always be remembered for his warm heart, gentle spirit, quick wit and bright smile. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great–grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
The family of Martin L. Puckett is being served by Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave, Decatur, IL 62526. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Father John Burnette of St. James and Patrick’s Parish will be officiating services.
