Marvin Eugene Ferguson (Gene)
Gene Ferguson passed away on Friday March 20, 2015 in St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, Il. Gene was born on July 31, 1936 in Toledo, Illinois the son of Clarence and Minnie (Newlan) Ferguson. Gene was the oldest of 13 siblings and was a very hard worker and wonderful provider for all of his children. Gene was in the drywall business for close to 60 years and a member of the Masons.
Surviving are his wife Donna Ferguson of 29 years, children David (Carol) Broome of Marysville, Washington, Gary Ferguson of Riverton, Il, Penny (Ray) Walton of Sullivan, Il, Kelly Miller of Decatur, Il, Tonya Duncan of Decatur, Il, Amie (Rick) Huss of Effingham, Il, Mendy Ferguson of Effingham, Il, and Mark (Melody) Ferguson of Honolulu, Hawaii.
Gene had several grandchildren and great grandchildren he also leaves behind.
Gene is proceeded in death by his father, mother, infant daughter, one brother and one sister.
Visitation for Gene will be Tuesday March 24th from 5 pm to 8 pm at Graceland Fairlawn. A private burial service for Gene will be held on Wednesday March 25th in Lovington, Il.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Kenny Ferguson, Gene’s nephew, for being there and doing all he has done for Gene and the family during this time. Another special thank you to the nursing staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for taking such good care of him during this difficult time.
