Marvin Clayton Roberts' Obituary
Marvin Clayton Roberts, 79, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2017, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Marvin was born January 9, 1938, in Marion, Illinois to Nathan H. and Oma E. (Tedrick) Roberts. He married Marilyn J. Boyce on December 19, 1959, in Decatur. Marvin was a union carpenter in Decatur for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry, gardening and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn; three sons, Mark (Jackie) Roberts of Argenta, Brian (Jessica) Roberts of Collinsville, OK, and Eric (Mon) Roberts of Thailand; five grandchildren, Amanda (Craig) Seematter, Kayla, Veronica, Darci and Ami; two step-grandchildren, Caleb and Brooklyn Seematter; two brothers, Ralph (Faye) Roberts of Decatur and William (Sharlotta) Roberts of Paducah, KY; three sisters, Murel Wright of Decatur, Loretta (Bob) Sullivan of Decatur and Shirley (Jim) Neece of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Nathan Roberts, Jr.; and one sister, Marie Camp.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Marvin Roberts will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the donor’s choice.
