Marvin F. Sloan's Obituary
Marvin F. Sloan, 94, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in his home surrounded by his loved ones.
Marvin was born February 23, 1923 in his grandparent’s home the Riley house outside of Holiday, Illinois. He is the son of Charles F. and Bertha C. (Riley) Sloan. Marvin married Maxine J. Binkley on November 27, 1946 at his parent’s home in Decatur. He worked for many people and in a factory over the years. Marvin retired from Wagner Casting Company in 1985 after forty years of service.
Surviving is his son Rickie L. Sloan and wife Debbie of Arcola, daughter Pamela J. Martin and husband Thomas of Shelbyville, sisters Louise Sperry of Decatur and Catherine B. Foster of Decatur, grandchildren Chad L. Sloan of Warrensburg, Tonya Lipbowsky and husband Mike of Decatur, Mindy Trip and husband Jimmy of Decatur, April Pitts and husband Gabriel of Decatur, and Casey Martin and wife Ewelina of Florida, two step-granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, brothers Lester, Keith, and Dewayne, and one sister Atha Sloan (Binkley).

Services to celebrate Marvin’s life will be 11:00 AM Sunday, July 30, 2017 in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 10-11 AM prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
