Marvin Roy "Sonny" Ritter's Obituary
Decatur – Marvin Roy “Sonny” Ritter, 87, of Decatur, IL, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Sonny was born July 6, 1930, in Mattoon, IL, the son of Reber and Hazel (Foster) Ritter. A U.S. Army veteran and member of the 101st Airborne, Sonny worked as a truck driver for Roadway Express. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and DAV. His hobbies included building model cars, boats, etc. Sonny married Myrtle Nall August 11, 1978.
Surviving is his wife, Myrtle of Decatur; sons: Mike Ritter of Champaign and David Ritter of Decatur; daughters: Jackie Harris of Gifford and Patti (Chris) Janes of Decatur; grandchildren: Kevin, Adam, Alyssa, Angelica, and Skylar; great grandchildren: Madden and Miren; brothers: Larry Ritter of Mattoon and Gary Ritter of Decatur; sisters: Martha Crookshank of Decatur, Judy Stewart of Rantoul and Madonna Moncel of Mattoon.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Ritter; brother, Irvin Ritter and sister, Kate Phalen.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Thursday, April 26, 2018, in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Heritage Manor Nursing Home Activities Department.
