Marvin Wright's Obituary
Marvin Wright, 82, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in St. Mary’s Hospital of Decatur.
Cremation will take place at Graceland/Fairlawn Crematory. Per Marvin’s wishes, there will be no public services. Memorial donations may be directed to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter of Decatur, IL.
Marvin was born December 22, 1931 in Charleston, IL., the son of Alfred Leroy Wright and Gladys (Buker) Wright. Marvin was the owner and operated the Marv’s Marathon service station for many years. He enjoyed watching television, and especially loved watch NASCAR, and his favorite NASCAR driver, Dale Earnhardt Sr. He married Lola Phillips on June 24, 1951 in Charleston, IL. They shared sixty-three wonderful years together.
Marvin leaves behind his wife Lola of Decatur, sons Rusty (Kathy) Wright of Decatur, Sam (Linda) Sloan of Maiden, NC; daughter-in-law Susan Wright of Decatur, brother Robert (Dorie) Wright of Tucson, AZ, grandchildren Andy (Tanya), and Chris, great grandchildren Devin, and Kloe, and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
Marvin was reunited in Heaven with his parents, son Gary Wright, brothers Rusty Wright, Bill Wright, and sister Linda Allen.
