Mary Ann Andrews' Obituary
Decatur- Mary Ann Andrews, 85, of Scottsdale, AZ, formerly of Decatur, passed away peacefully at her home in Scottsdale, AZ, Wednesday, July 1, 2015.
A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Mary Ann was born July 13, 1929, in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of William O. and Mabel (Wright) Pier. A graduate of Stephen Decatur High school, she married Keith Andrews on December 25, 1947. She was a homemaker, worked at the Rock Island Arsenal, and retired from the Social Security Administration in Waukesha, Wisconsin, in August of 1990. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. Mary Ann enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing and collecting antiques. In her later years she became skilled at crocheting rag rugs.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband Keith Andrews of Scottsdale, AZ, her three children: John Steven (Pam), St. Rose, Illinois; Jim (Dianne), Sherrard, Illinois; and Mary Jane, Tempe, Arizona; three sisters: Jane Gaffron, Bloomington, Illinois; Nancy Simroth, Charlottesville, Virginia; and Pat Bell, Arvada, Colorado; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Bill Pier, and sisters Katherine Barnes, Mildred Dreasher, Betty Norrington, Pauline Wingfield, and Leona Seymour.
