Mary F. Boyle's Obituary
Mary F. Boyle, 92, passed away on February 12, 2017 in Decatur, IL.
Mary was born on January 28, 1925 in Upton, KY to Blond and Zelma (Cave)Bland. On January 16, 1944 she married Robert E. Boyle, who preceded her in death on October 9, 1976. Mary was an executive secretary at Illinois Power until she retired in 1987. Mary was a Deacon Emeritus and Stephen Minister at Central Christian Church, had volunteered at the DMH gift shop, and was active in her sorority and class reunions until a few years ago. She loved to play tennis, golf, and work out at the YWCA. She loved her family and telling jokes. Mary was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and University of Illinois fan. She was quite vocal about calls made by umpires and referees, especially at her son’s games. We are certain that our mom is jitterbugging with our dad to heavenly music performed by the big bands they loved. If you’d like to share a funny story about Mary, please join us in celebrating the wonderful life she lived. She leaves a daughter, Tracey Devore, and her husband, Gary, of Sun City, AZ, a son, Rick Boyle, of Quincy, IL; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Her husband, parents, and in-laws preceded her in death, and they are all enjoying a family reunion now!
Service to Celebrate Mary’s life will be 11 AM Saturday, February 25, 2017 Central Christian Church, 650 W. William Street. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the church. Inurnment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Central Christian Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
