Mary Margaret "Bucket" Rora's Obituary
Mary Margaret “Bucket” Rora, 78, of Decatur, formerly of Springfield and Kincaid, passed away suddenly, Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center, in Springfield.
She was born November 27, 1938, to Russell and Julia (Hayden) Meachum and sister to Jeanie, Ellen, Billy and “Tom”.
Margaret worked as a hair dresser and instructor, as well as, a breakfast hostess at Hampton Inn and hostess at Tom’s Grill, but her greatest job was as a care giver for several family members over the year.
She was greeted in Heaven by her husband of 60 years, Richard; her son’s Richard, Scott and Jeffery Thomas; grandson, Matthew Whitacre, as well as her parents and siblings, Jeanie Barton, Billy and “Tom” Meachum.
She leaves behind her beloved children, Michael and wife Margaret, Juli Whitacre and husband Richard “Cary” and Patrick and his late partner “Sonny Hicks”. She also leaves behind six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Funeral liturgy to celebrate Margaret’s life will be 12 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday before the service at the funeral home. Inurnment with the “Flight Home Ceremony” will be in Graceland Cemetery following the service at the funeral home.
