Mary Geraldine Barnett's Obituary
Mary Geraldine Barnett, 97, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2016, in Salem Township Hospital.
Mary was born June 4, 1919, in Paris, IL to Frank and Bertha Fredericka (Manuel) Blake. She married Paul W. Barnett. She was a mechanic during the war for Boeing Aircraft in Illiopolis. Mary was a member of St. Peter’s AME.
Mary is survived by her son, Vincent Barnett of Decatur; two nephews, Steven Gray of Abilene, TX and Michael (Shirley) Johnson of Paw Paw, MI; four nieces, Freda (Buddy) Hannah, Susan Johnson and Karen (Tyrone) Foster, and Kim Johnson all of Kalamazoo, MI; two great-nephews, Steve Gray of Abilene, TX and Kirk Gray of Katy, TX.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul; three brothers, Francis, Robert and Billy; two sisters, Naomi and Lucy.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County or Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
