Mary Kathryn ("Mary Kay") Gunnels' Obituary
Mary Kathryn “Mary Kay” Gunnels, 68, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away February 15, 2024, at Fair Havens Senior Living Center.
Mary Kay was born on December 24, 1955, the daughter of Floyd and Rosemary (Gietl) Foley. She married Michael D. Gunnels on May 7, 1984, in Decatur. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Mary Kay worked as a machine operator. She was a member of Ss. James and Patrick Parish. She was a very sociable person who loved having a good time with her friends.
Mary Kay is survived by her brothers Tom Foley of Decatur and Ed (Pat) Foley of Ohio; sister Susan (Allen) Altig of Warrensburg Illinois; and nieces/nephews Crystal Edgecomb, Jacob Smith, Emily Altig, Jennifer Foley, Jason Foley, and Becky Foley. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home is providing cremation services for Mary Kay. A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Friday, March 1, in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County or other animal charity of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
