Mary E. Jordan's Obituary
Decatur-Mary E. Walters Harrington Jordan, 89, of Decatur, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at Hickory Point Christian Village in Forsyth with her family by her side.
Mary was born January 31, 1927 in Decatur, Illinois the daughter of John and Verna (Price) Peck. She married Paul Walters in October of 1945 and he preceded her in death in February of 1953. She married Richard Harrington in December of 1958. She then married Bert Jordan in June of 1984 and he preceded her in death in January of 1995. Mary was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church and past member of the Quilt Guild. She was a very hard working woman who would tackle anything. She could turn rags into beautifully crafted quilts. Mary was a beautiful, caring, sweet lady who would do anything for anyone.
Mary leaves behind her children John (Janet) Walters of Forsyth, Paul Michael Walters of Sulphur, OK, Paula (Richard) Hartwig, Bonnie (Mike) Mullins and Roman Harrington all of Decatur, Aaron (special friend Stephanie) Harrington of Overland, MO, and Adam (Kim) Harrington of Collinsville, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, brothers Bob (Nancy) Peck and Jim (Suzie) Peck both of Decatur, Richard (Marilyn) Peck of Cookeville, TN, and Tom (Janet) Peck of Ellisville, MO, sister Patricia Warnick of Monticello, and many very special nieces and nephews.
Mary was greeted into Heaven by her parents, spouses, loving daughter Maryanne Campbell, one grandson, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, three brothers, and two sisters.
We will miss her beautiful smile, amazing positive attitude, and quick wit. Rest in peace sweet, sweet, Mama you’ve earned your crowns.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff at Evergreen, Hickory Point Christian Village, and St. Mary’s Hospital for all of their loving care.
Services to celebrate Mary’s life will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sharon United Methodist Church or to the Urology Care Foundation.
