Mary L. Lewis' Obituary
Decatur-Mary L. Lewis, 85, of Decatur, went to be with the lord at 5:00 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 in her home with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Mary's life will be 10 am Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Moundford Free Methodist Church, 1803 E. Mound Road, with Pastors Bob Smith and Jerry Coates officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with 'Flight Home' Ceremony will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 2211 N. Oak Park Avenue Chicago, IL 60707.
Mary was born December 20, 1925 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Henry S. and Elizabeth Jane (Hughes) Henwood. She was a devoted homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Moundford Free Methodist Church. Mary loved camping with her family which Randall and her had done for forty-two years at the Champaign Sportsman Club in Mahomet, Illinois. She married Randall M. 'Pappy' Lewis August 7, 1942. He preceded her in death October 31, 2008.
She leaves behind her children William (Madonna) Lewis of Decatur, James (Janie) Lewis of Decatur, Donna (Ed) Clark of Downs, Carol Vieth and Tommy of New Port Richey, FL, Karen (Scott) Hill of Dent, MN, Richard (Sherri) Lewis of Bloomington, and Rhonda Teel of Decatur, grandchildren Bill (Jill Lewis of Decatur, Steve Lewis of Decatur, Matt Lewis of Clearwater, FL, Doug Lewis of New Port Richey, FL, Michele (Kevin) Kutchma of Hudson, Brad (Alicia ) Stout of Heyworth, Joshua Clark of Miami, FL, Elizabeth Clark of New Port Richey, FL, Sarah Clark of New Port Richey, FL, Ashley (Chad) Christianson of Hancock, MN, Drew Hill of Elbow Lake, MN, Daniel Hill of Dent, MN, Aubrey Hill of Dent, MN, Emily Lewis of Bloomington, Brittney Lewis of Decatur, Clinton Teel of Long Creek, and Lauren Bradshaw of Decatur, twenty-one great-grandchildren with one on the way.
She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, daughter Marilyn Lewis, brothers Earl and Bill Paul, and sisters Leona Meyer, Ann Allsup, and Clara Woodrum.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Baumberger and his staff and the nurses and staff with DMH Hospice for all of their loving care.
Her family was her life and she loved each and every one of them very much.
