Mary L. Miller's Obituary
Dawson-Mary L. Miller, 73, of Dawson, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 10:29 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2009 in the Emergency Room at St. John’s Hospital with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Mary’s life will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Summit Avenue Baptist Church, 1715 N. Summit Ave. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Mary was born June 3, 1936 in Decatur the daughter of Charles A. and Mildred (Parnell) Petro. She was a former school bus driver for W-L School District and gas station attendant at USCO in Delevan. She was a member of Summit Avenue Baptist Church where she was a preschool teacher, helped with vacation bible school, and was involved with the bus ministry. She loved to fish, crochet, and do word searches and puzzles. She married Orbon J. Miller October 4, 1968. He preceded her in death March 2, 1984.
She leaves behind her son; Silas Eric Miller and wife Trish of Manito, daughters; Shirley Cox and husband Kevin of Ft. Myers, Florida, Debbi Siburt and husband Mark of Moweaqua, Susan Reitzel and husband Rand of Parker, Colorado, Cathy Benton of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Shelley Sappington-Ross of San Jose, Rebecca Miller of Dawson, and Sarah Garrison and husband James of Dawson, brother; Gerald A. Petro of Decatur, sisters; Lois Fry and husband Richard of Stonington and Jane Goehring and husband August “Red”, of Decatur, seventeen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, husband, brothers; Donald and Ed Petro, sister; Charlene Dodson, and two great-grandsons.
