Mary Ann Mulverhill's Obituary
Decatur-Mary Ann Mulverhill, 77, of Decatur, passed away February 8, 2013 at her daughter's home in Niceville, Florida, surrounded by her family.
Mary Ann was born March 14, 1935 in Decatur, the daughter of Charles Sr. and Eva I. (Frye) Nieft. She married Robert C. Mulverhill February 14, 1954 in Decatur. He preceded her in death August 29, 2008.
Mary Ann was a member of First Lutheran Church. She was retired from the Decatur Public School District #61. She was a member of Decatur Association of Educational Office Personnel, Illinois Association of Educational Office Personnel, National Association of Educational Office Personnel, American Business Women, Lakeview Alumni Association, Five O'clock Dance Club, Zonta, Hot Tamales Red Hatters, and formed Mary's Merry Makers travel and dance club. She held many positions in these organizations including President, Treasurer, and Secretary. She was Secretary of the Year and Office Employee of the Year. She received Those Who Excel Award. She was on the board of directors for the Decatur Celebration, Summer Start, and Yesteryear Festival. She worked for the Decatur Visitor and Convention Bureau after retiring. She loved spending time with family and friends, dancing, traveling, helping others, and being involved in community activities.
She leaves behind her son Robert C. Mulverhill, Jr. and wife Laure of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, daughters Rebecca A. Schniepp and husband Mark and Eva S. Mulverhill all of Niceville, Florida, grandchildren Matthew R. Mulverhill and Shelby L. Mulverhill of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Kayla L. Schniepp of Tallahassee, Florida, and Colton B. Schniepp of Orlando, Florida, brothers Charles L. Nieft, Jr. and wife Marie of Valparaiso, Florida and James D. Wester of Springfield, Illinois, mother-in-law Catherine 'Peg' Zucco of Mt. Zion, Illinois, sister-in-law Mary L. Wortman and husband Mike of Decatur, Illinois, brother-in-law Joe Zucco and wife Jody of Ladoga, Indiana, and many special nieces and nephews.
She was reunited in Heaven with her husband of over fifty-four years, parents, and a sister Peggy.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Emerald Coast Hospice for their excellent care and compassion.
Services to celebrate Mary Ann's life will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at First Lutheran Church, 250 W. Decatur St with visitation one hour prior to the services. Visitation will also be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association or First Lutheran Church.
