Mary Frances Perkins' Obituary
Mary Frances Perkins, 90, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015, in her home.
Mary was born October 31, 1924 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Walter and Mary Elizabeth Sharpes. Mary was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She retired from St. Mary’s Hospital after working there for 29 years. She loved staying busy and visiting people. Mary loved spending quality time with her family. She enjoyed family get-togethers and keeping contact with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary married Donald D. Perkins Sr. on December 15, 1945, in Decatur, IL, and they shared 60 wonderful years together. Donald preceded her in death on January 15, 2006.
Mary leaves behind her children, Mary Jo (Kenny)Wrigley of Decatur; Donald D. (Mary Lou) Perkins Jr. of Livingston, TX; Karen (Michael) Kitchens of Decatur; Mark (Cindy) Perkins of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Sandra Carmean of Madison, WI; sister-in-law, Virginia Pasley of Oreana, IL; son-in-law, David Grider of Decatur; grandchildren, Tara, Robb, Scott, Nicholas, Shane, Christopher, Jason, Jamie, Nicole, Jody, and Tony; and great-grandchildren, Regan, Paige, Claire, Angela, Alec, Allie, Emily, Morgan, Colin, Adalynn, Lillian, Mitchell, Taylor, Devon, Madison, Morgan, Logan, Theodore, Benjamin, Elijah, Eleanor, Kelenn, Coralie, Connor, and Addison.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; daughter, Carol Grider; and sister, Anne E. Doyle.
Services to celebrate Mary’s life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 N Oakland Ave, Decatur. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
She was a strong, loving, intelligent, beautiful person inside and out. She had a full life with lots of love.
