Mary A. Pratt (Tomlin), 64, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away at her home on August 19th after a courageous battle against cancer. Mary, or as many knew her, Mrs. Pratt, was born on July 14, 1959, in Springfield, Illinois, to Geo Read Obituary
One of my fondest memories of Mary is one day, we had come to visit at Bill's and didn't think to bring swimwear. Of course, everyone was in the pool. I, being the dramatic little butthead I was, was sitting on the edge with my feet in the water, sighing.
Mary waded over to me and started talking with me. Then trying to get me to get in the pool, street clothes be damned. I told her I didn't want to get my clothes wet because my sissy got them for me and I didn't want to upset her. Mary simply said "eh. I'll pay her back." Then started splashing me til I was soaked and squealing with laughter.

I hope I never forget the unmistakable sound of your laughter. I hope I can always remember the way you looked everything you'd walk in, see me and say 'HI, FRED!" I really wish I had heard it one more time.

Mary and I met when we were in middle school and we were inseparable. We were best friends for life!
We went everywhere together….from concerts and movies to horseback riding or just hanging out at her house laughing for hours and hours!
Her Mom “Ruth” was my second Mom.
Mary was one in a Million! She was the best friend that anyone could ask for! She was always there through the good times and bad! She was beautiful, smart and so much fun to be around! She will be missed immensely and I will never ever forget my beautiful Mary!
We had so many childhood memories there’s too many to mention.
One of my favorite memories was hopping on our bicycles and riding all the way to Pleasant Plains together….without permission of course!
We were heading out to the farm to get away from the city life. Lol. We were so tired we stopped and put our bikes down to lay under a big oak tree and fell asleep.
Mary will always be in my heart forever and ever! I will always have our beautiful adventures and memories forever in my heart!

Mary was one of the best neighbors I've ever had. She is always willing to help somebody she was good-hearted. And she helped me when I was at my worst with a smile on her face and a joke for me and her husband Martin is a good neighbor too. I will miss her deeply and may she rest in peace.
