Mary Alice Rule's Obituary
Decatur-Mary Alice Rule, 95, of Decatur, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 at Imboden Creek Living Center.
Mary Alice was born June 5, 1921 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of John Dale and Hazel Marie (Gordon) Dixson. She was a devoted homemaker and previously employed as a cook with DPS #61. Mary Alice was a member of Central Christian Church, the Allstaters, and Decatur Quilting Association. She was very talented around the house and enjoyed baking, cooking, and sewing. She married William D. Rule September 9, 1939 in St. Charles, Missouri. He preceded her in death January 22, 2015 after seventy-five years of marriage.
Mary Alice leaves behind her sons Larry Rule (Marsha) of Decatur and Daniel (Lori) Rule of Decatur, daughters Sandra (Don) Walker of Decatur and Nancy Rule White of Decatur, brothers Dean Dixson of Decatur and James Dixson of Galveston, Texas, sister Ruth Ann Galka of Decatur, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Alice was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband Bill, brothers Grover and Gordon Dixson, sister Norma Theobald, and granddaughter Stephanie Colebar.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. McCormack and staff, and to the nurses and staff at Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their compassionate outstanding care.
Services to celebrate Mary Alice’s life will be 10 AM Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial to follow in Graceland Cemetery.
