Mary Sims' Obituary
Mary L. Baker Sims was born May 19th, 1931, to Raymond C. Baker and Lucille M. Baker, Sister to Charles P. and Nancy Baker passed on October 8th, 2023, in her shared residence with her daughter Laura and Hossein at their family home.
Mary married Homer R. Sims on October 11th, 1964, and they had four children: Laura L. Jolani and husband, Hossein Jolani who reside in Shiloh, IL., twins a year later Lisa K. Sims and Loren R. Sims, and Larry L. Sims and wife, Theresa Sims who reside in the State of Florida. Mary is the grandmother of three to Larry and Theresa Sims, Rayna Cheyenne, Larry Thomas and Jonaleah Sherman also grandchildren to Laura and Hossein Jolani, Hanna S. and Husband Eric S. Macias, and Brandon O. and wife Cheyenne Barteau-Jolani and great-granddaughter Ellie E. Barteau Jolani. All of whom she was exceedingly proud of and loved very, very much.
Mary had been a long time member of Resurrection Life Church in Decatur, IL and helped in many ways and her best friends Beverly and Shirley she never forgot and was a volunteer and opened her home and time to those who had traveled through needing a place to stay before going on to their next singing destination and when she loved she loved hard. She also while in her newest residence of Shiloh, Illinois met and found many new friends through Christ the King Apostolic Church in O'Fallon, Illinois. One in particular, Jon and Wanda K. Grover’s family became like one of our own and have demonstrated to us such an outpouring of love and kindness to our mother that could never be repaid no matter how hard we tried.
We also want to thank from the bottom of our hearts the Orange South Team with Southern Illinois Home Hospice, of whom without all of you this journey could never have been possible. When caring for others the load isn't so heavy, but when it's your own loved one the load seems quite unbearable at most times and for this reason alone, I am most grateful to you all, but on that last day RN's Mel and My Sister Buddy Heather who's the "Royal Queen".
As I have said before, to those who have prayed with us, to those who have cried with us, to those who have laughed with us in remembrance, and to all those who will be saying good bye with us, but also "Celebrating Momma's New Body without pain and Home Going" our family sends our deepest Thanks and Gratitude for everything you have done for us during this time.
Graceland Fairlawn in Decatur, IL we also thank you for all your help in this difficult process and Tony, Sarah and John especially words can't express our gratitude enough.
A private family service will held at later date.
Condolences can be left for the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com
