Mary Lynn Van Praag-Maxwell's Obituary
Decatur- Mary Lynn Van Praag-Maxwell, 83, of Decatur, Passed away Monday, September 21, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, due to a brief illness.
Mary Lynn was born March 2, 1932 in Decatur, IL., the daughter of Lynn E. and Margaret (Bishop) Maddox. She was a receptionist and worked the courtesy Desk at the YMCA for over twenty years of service. She was a member of (D.A.R.) Daughters of American Revolution, Decatur Chapter, and a member of the First Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading the Bible, classic cars, attending classic car shows, and most of all, spending time with family and friends. She married William Maxwell in 1982, in Clayton, MO. He preceded her in death May 25, 2002.
Surviving are her children, Gregory (Susan) Van Praag of Sullivan; sister-in-law, Karen Maddox of Decatur; two grandsons, two nieces, Jill Davis, Nancy Buckman; five nephews, Wade Maddox , Craig Maddox, James Maddox, Jeff Van Praag, and Rodney Van Praag.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Gary E. Maddox, and nephew, Kevin Maddox.
Graveside services to celebrate Mary Lynn’s life will be 1:00 pm Sunday, September 27, 2015 in Graceland Cemetery, 2091 N. Oakland Ave. Decatur. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church and/or Cancer Care of Central Illinois.
