Max R. Cowgill's Obituary
Max R. Cowgill, 82, of Decatur passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 in his home.
Max was born on April 6, 1934 in Decatur, IL the son of Raymond and Ruth (Sweet) Cowgill. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. He was a retired letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He married Anna Sharp in Moultrie County on January 2, 1953. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2015.
Surviving are his sons, Gerald “Jerry” Max Cowgill (Washell) of Ephrata, WA; Joel “Joe” Cowgill (Nina) of Williston, ND; Douglas “Doug” Cowgill of Ephrata, WA; Thomas “Tom” Cowgill (Carrie) of Lovington, IL; brother, Alan Cowgill (Judy) of Chatham, IL; grandchildren, Keisha Kay Cowgill; Kaylle Cowgill; Max Cowgill; Travis Cowgill; Tiffany McCrory (Micah); Trisha Marie Joyner; Eldon Thomas Cowgill; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Richard “Rick” Cowgill; one brother, Marvin Cowgill; grandson, Lucas Cowgill; and one great-grandson.
Graveside service to celebrate Max’s life will be 11 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 in Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Inter-Veteran’s Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
