Decatur-Maxine Smith Carter, 66, of Richton Park, Illinois formerly of Decatur, departed this life on Thursday, September 15, 2016 in Richton Park.
Maxine was born June 26, 1950 in Decatur, Illinois, to the union Douglas and Verlene Smith. She graduated from Eisenhower High School class of 1969. She attended Kennedy King College and Prairie State University. Maxine retired from the Government of the United States of America after thirty-three years of loyal service. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and talking.
Maxine leaves to cherish her loving memories brother Clete Smith, sisters Patricia (Marvin) Perry Sr., Beverly (Richard) Gude Sr., LaVerne (Virgil) Mingas, and Lolita Smith, aunt Verma (Joe) Taylor, uncles, Jimmie Taylor, Larry (Louise) Taylor, and Burl (Eddie Mae) Stoner, and extended family and friends. Also near and dear to her heart Tanzy, Charles, Deztiny, Trinity Clemons, Freddie Clark, and Roger Carter.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncle, and cousins.
Her kind, caring, and loving spirit will truly be missed.
Graveside services to celebrate Maxine’s life will be 1:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM prior to the services in the Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.
