Mearl Frederick Jones' Obituary
Decatur-Mearl Frederick 'Fred' Jones, 68, of Decatur, passed away at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Services to celebrate Fred's life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 N. Oakland Ave with Pastors William and Brock Abbott officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, October 17, 2011 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Interment with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Fred was born November 19, 1942 in Decatur, the son of Virgil Ivan and Helen (Petrowski) Jones. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was employed at Revere Copper & Brass in Clinton retiring after many years of service. He was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, Civil War Reenactments, and especially spending time with his family. He married Dianna Durbin March 14, 1982.
He leaves behind his wife Dianna, sons, Frederick I. and Christopher D. Jones both of Decatur, daughters, Amber C. Ignozzi, Elvira D. Murphy and husband Shaun, and Sheena M. Jones and fiancée Sonny O'Laughlin all of Decatur, brothers, Robert Jones and wife Sharon, Mike Jones, Darrell Jones, Dennis Jones, and Rick Jones and wife Pam, sisters, Cheryl McClusky and Cathy McClure and husband Chuck, grandchildren, Corey and Seth Jones, Kayla and Dezerae Murphy, Destiny and Cayden Jones, Serenity O'Laughlin, and Meadow Ignozzi, special loved ones, Jason Mierek and wife Joann, and their daughter Veronica, and several nieces and nephews.
He was reunited in Heaven with his parents and sisters, Rosemary and Shirley Ann Jones.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Franklin and the nurses and staff on the 4th floor ICU and 5100 at DMH for all of their loving care.
You will be greatly missed you were an amazing husband, father, and friend.
