Melinda "Mindy" Shookman's Obituary
Decatur-Melinda Sue “Mindy” Shookman, 62, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in her home with her family by her side.
Mindy was born February 24, 1955 in Decatur, Illinois, the daughter of Keith and Doris (Gordon) Greene. She was employed as a respiratory therapist in the Macon County area for over twenty-five years. Mindy was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and volunteered at the church and Homeward Bound. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and gardener and loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Mindy married Brian Shookman March 17, 2006.
Mindy is survived by her husband Brian, mother Doris, children Angela (Lenny) Gerber and Benjamin (Zhanna) Bullock, stepdaughter Denise Shookman, brother Rodney (Patricia) Greene, grandchildren Zoey Jenkins and Victoria Meadows, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mindy was preceded in death by her father Keith and brother Gordon Greene.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Mindy’s close friends LeeAnn, Laney, Patty, Debby, and Diane, church family at TBC, and many other friends for all of their prayers, love, and support.
Services to celebrate Mindy’s life will be 4:00 PM Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 650 N Wyckles Rd, Decatur, IL. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Entombment will be at a later date in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois or the Decatur Macon County Animal Shelter.
