Melissa A. (Missy) Kitson's Obituary
Melissa (Missy) A. Kitson came into the world a fighter on February 27th, 1968. From day one the word ‘can’t’ was not in her vocabulary, and she didn’t take kindly to hearing ‘no’ either. She used challenges for fuel, whether it was running marathons or traveling the world, Missy seized everyday. She was born and raised in Decatur Illinois, graduated from MacArthur High School and the University of Illinois and then promptly went on about her business of living life to the fullest. Missy worked in Senior Accounting roles for some of the most reputable firms such as Coca-Cola, McCann, and Red Bricks Media. Both personally and professionally Missy taught her circle of influence about perseverance, happiness, philanthropy, passion for life and loyalty to loved ones. She made life-long friends everywhere she went and left her footprint on everything she touched.
All too suddenly, on January 18th 2013, Missy’s exciting journey was cut short leaving her fan club of countless loyal friends and family without words. Among them; Father James Kitson and wife Barb of Decatur IL; Mother Patricia Anderson and husband Dave of The Villages FL; brother and best friend Brett Kitson, wife Courtney and adored nieces & nephews TJ, Lauren & Bentley Kitson of Sandy UT; sister Amanda Kitson of Lakeland FL; sister Melanie McDaniel, husband Tony, nephews Conar and Caden McDaniel of Lakeland FL & Brittany Hazelrigg of Potsdam, NY.
Celebration of Missy’s life will be held Saturday February 9th 2013 from 1 to 3pm with services 3pm at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
