Merrell L. Mahan's Obituary
Merrell Leslie Mahan, 85, of Decatur, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Merrell was born May 22, 1931, in Herrick, to Anderson Jasper and Nida May (Salomon) Mahan. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Merrell married Linda L. Swisher on December 19, 1953.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda; four sons, Loren (Sherri) Mahan of Decatur, Jeff (Dawn April) Mahan of Keota, IA, Wayne Mahan of Warrensburg and Brad (Michelle Flynn) Mahan of Wellman, IA; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby (Dr. Marvin) Rittgers-Samuelson of Rogers, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Brian A. Mahan; one sister, Norma (Larry) Durbin.
Visitation to celebrate the life of Merrell L. Mahan will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon, Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard at 12 noon. Graveside services will follow in Mackey Cemetery in Mansfield. Memorials may be directed to Disabled American Veterans 1700 N Lake Shore Dr, Decatur, IL 62526.
