Michael Bunning's Obituary
Decatur/Latham–Michael Alan Bunning, 62, born and raised in Decatur, IL. Presently residing in Latham, IL. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 28, 2013 after having a brief illness. He passed in his room at McKinley Court with his wife by his side.
Mike was born May 10, 1951 in Decatur, IL, the only child of Kenneth L. and Vivian L. (Vicki Clinton) Bunning. He attended Lakeview High School thru 1969.
He married Teresa R. Stedman July 27, 1974 in South Shores Christian Church.
He was previously employed at Skeff Distributing Company (Budweiser) as a driver/delivery man and a warehouseman 1974 thru 2009. He retired in 2009 with 35 years of service.
Mike loved watching the History Channel, SYFY movies and reading Westerns. His favorite hobbies would include gardening-growing the best tomatoes, yard work, mowing with his new tractor, repairing stuff at his work bench, collecting old tools and blasting Rock N Roll music in the garage. He did a lot of fishing, hunting, boating, motorcycle riding in his younger years. He was a wonderful loving husband, a very caring, devoted dad. He adored all his grandkids and they were the light of his life. Although he didn’t get together with extended family members often, he loved everyone very much.
The loved ones he leaves behind are: Teresa- his loving wife of 39 years; sons: Cody A. Bunning (Ashlee) of Decatur, IL; Michael Todd Raber of Wabash, IN; daughter: Marcie Nida of Fulton, IL, his darling grandkids: Jordon, Cody Jr., newborn Chloe, Darian, Dylan, Brandi and Wendell.
Mike was reunited in Heaven with his parents, grandparents, several family members and his close friend Benny.
The family sends a special thank you to all the staff at McKinley Court for providing professional loving care, courtesy, and comfort to Mike while he was there.
Services to celebrate Mike’s life will be 1:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014, 5:00p.m until -7:00p.m.
Memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
