Michael R. Butler's Obituary
Michael Ray Butler, 71, of Decatur, IL, passed away peacefully, February 13, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Michael was born April 10, 1947 in Decatur, IL, the son of James and Eileen Butler. He married Jody Lynn Nicol on July 3, 1966, in Decatur, IL. Michael was a painter for Caterpillar Inc, from 1966 to 1998 retiring after 32 years of service.
Michael had owned several Classic Cars during his lifetime and loved working on and showing them. During his leisure, he was a sports enthusiast and favored his favorite teams, Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Surviving are his wife, Jody; children, Heather Ann Strocher (Tim) of Cerro Gordo, Lara Lynn Conaway (Lonnie) of Decatur, James Michael Butler (Christina of Decatur; brother, James Savage (Ann) of Sun City, FL; sister, Sandy Herndon of Kapaa, Kauai, HI; grandchildren, Cody Michael Long (Heather Wren), Shelby Long, Niki Crawley ( James), Caira Butler, Jacob Michael Butler, Kaitlynn Butler; great-grandchildren, Ava, Layla, Tyson, Hunter Michael, Blaedyn, Mia, Maylei and Winter Skye.
Preceding in death are his parents and sister, Kathryn Sue Butler.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Monday, February 18, 2019 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 – 7 PM Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.
