I am thinking of your family with sympathy. I was so sorry to hear this sad news. I used to work with Mike in the Master Gardener program. Mike was friendly, kind, intelligent – just a terrific person to be around.

Gene, Gloria, Honey, Gus, Randy, Joy, children, and close friends- my heart is aching, but I have been searching for, and finding, comfort in the beautiful assortment of memories Mike has left behind- like a bouquet of fresh and fragrant flowers, each unique and remaining alive for me to enjoy at any time! Mike was a great father and brother, not only to his own, but to all of us through the years that we were so fortunate to have known him.
dearest Gene, Gloria, Randy, Joy, Gus and all other family members(children):I am so sorry about Mikes' passing and want you all to know. I spent many years out at the farm with you all and Mike, have know him since the late 60's and will always keep special memories and knowledge from Mike sacred. He shared his excellent information always, with us all for so many years and I always respected and was better informed about so many things that Mike taught us. I love fish aquariums and fish of course because of Mike and have a great appreciation for all flowers and vegetable gardens because of Mike…..he was a great Master at so many things….I will miss him so much too.I will look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for his service and again, my deep, heart felt sympathies to you all.With much love, Elizabeth Bavor

A few hours after I heard about Mike I began writing down all of the great qualities that came to my mind during those sad hours. Devoted father, arborist, patriot, ornithologist, loyal son, mechanic, apple picker, loyal friend, truth seeker, ichthyologist, Obama supporter, Yale Graduate, Vietnam protester,….and thats only the beginning. Mike was full of talent. Whatever he became interested in he was soon to become an authority on. And he loved sharing his knowlege with us. This is what made him so special to so many people. He opened himself up to us and we are all better human beings for it.
Dear Gus, Selket & Graham – so sorry to hear about your loss. We were deeply saddened & will treasure fond memories of the times we spent with Mike and all of you.
