Michael Benton Coulter's Obituary
Michael Benton Coulter Sr., 62, of Decatur passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Michael was born on March 17, 1952 in Decatur the son of Edgar Benton and Norma Jean (Bear) Coulter. He married Maxine Fulton on June 13, 1971 in Atkin, MN. He was a very supportive son and grandson. He was always there for his family no matter what the need. He was very proud of the accomplishments of his sons, and grandson encouraging them in whatever they wanted to do. He had a great sense of humor and was a true friend. He loved to read and when meeting new friends or happened to see an old friend he would ask them what they had read lately. He gave away numerous books. For a short time he operated Underhill Books in downtown Decatur. He enjoyed helping locate a book for anyone interested, and would suggest other titles and authors they might enjoy.
Surviving are his wife, Maxine; mother Norma Jean Coulter of Decatur; sons, Michael Benton Coulter Jr. of Blue Mound; Jeremy David Coulter (Amanda) of Decatur; and grandson Justin Michael Benton Coulter of Decatur.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edgar Benton Coulter; grandson Benjamin Brendan Coulter; grandparents, Evelyn Wilson, Ralph McGhee, Virgil Bear and Charlie and Annamae (McPeak) Coulter.
Funeral service to celebrate Michael’s life will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to service in the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
