Michael S. Dial's Obituary
Decatur-Michael S. Dial, 64, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 in his home with his family by his side.
Mike was born July 1, 1950 in Decatur, the son of Delmar Eugene and Betty June (Lawrence) Dial. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army with 82nd & 173rd Airborne Rangers in Vietnam where he received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Carpenters Union Local #742 in Decatur and Carpenters Union Local #195 in Ottawa. He was an avid collector of coins, antiques, and Indian artifacts. He married Joy Ann Sparks February 3, 2006.
Mike leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Joy of Decatur, son Jarod Dial of St. Charles, step-son David Meyer and wife Sierra of Terre Haute, Indiana, step-daughter Bobbi Drury and husband Kenny of Kempton, Indiana, sister Delrene Berg and husband Gary of Decatur, sisters-in-law Brenda Dial of Decatur and Nancy McCain of Decatur, grandchildren Kenny, Tim, Mikey, and Liam, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
Mike was reunited in Heaven with his parents and brothers Riki and David Dial.
Graveside services to celebrate Mike’s life will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 at North Fork Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the ALS Foundation for Life.
