Michael W. Forbes' Obituary
Michael “Mike” W. Forbes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, left this Earthly world on Monday, April 6, 2015, to join those in glory who had preceded him.
Mike was born on December 5, 1939, to Marjorie and Glenn Forbes. Mike married Carol (Susie) Rowan on May 31, 1991. Michael then worked for Illinois Power for over fifty years of service, working in many capacities until he reached the position of Power Broker. He retired in 1997. Michael was a member of the Warrensburg Gun Club, and Hickory Point Golf Course.
Mike was devoted to his existing family, and survived by his wife Carol (Susie) Forbes, daughter Michelle Highcock (Joe) ; step-children, Staci Bonds (Gary), Tye Rowan, Derek Rowan (Leeann); grandchildren, Austin Baranko and Levi Barank,; step-grandchildren, Braden and Mikayla Highcock, Drew Kovaleski, Sami Bonds, Grace Bonds, and Savannah Rowan; brothers, Dennis Forbes (Christine), Terry Forbes (Teresa), Stephen Forbes (Joanne) and Duane Forbes plus many nephews and a niece. Mike was a master of knowledge with many self-taught hobbies. He built model airplanes, rebuilt golf clubs, guns and set up computer systems for several doctors. Mike loved to fish, golf, and shoot trap.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his caregivers for the past five years: Dr. M. Khan, Hickory Point Christian Village staff, DMH Home Health Care, (Shannon R.N. and Tracy CNA); home caregivers Toni Nash and Tye Rowan.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Skip Spent.
Mike will be deeply missed by all for his deep devotion to family members, his knowledge and quiet loving nature. Mike loved his time with golfing buddies on the course.
Private family services to celebrate Michael’s life will be on Friday, April 10, 2015 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter.
