Gloria, my friend from gradeschool, Linda (Eads) Johnson sent me the obituary from the Decatur paper.I am so sorry that you lost your son. I have a son who is 42 (my only child). I cannot imagine how heartbreaking that this much be for you. I hope that you will contact me. I do not know your address or even where you live. I am wondering if we will have a 50-year high school reunion in 2010. Do you know? I would love to hear from you.
Gloria and Gordon, I was Mike's roomate at Eastern. It was good to have a friend like Mike to help transition from high school to college. We always had a rivalry when it came to sports teams. Seems we could only agree on Illini basketball. May the Lord's peace give you comfort.Bill Umfleet

My memories of Mike are from 25+ years ago. We played a lot of basketball during high school and some afterwards. Shared some accounting and math classes as well. We use to kid him about looking like Steve Perry from the band, Journey. The green Pontiac car that he drove stands out as well. Thanks for the memories and may he rest in peace.
Gulliford Family – I had no idea Mike had been ill and am truly sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I worked w/Mike and First Mutual from about '92 – '99, when I left to start working and the PO. He talked a lot about his parents. I will always remember he always got his dad a gift to/from Delbert's clothing store because when he first talked about it, I thought he was talking about Del's Auto Supply on E. William St. in Decatur. We got a huge laugh out of that one! I would see him once in a while on one of my mail routes and we would always gab for 10-15 minutes and try to catch up on everything in that short amount of time, but hadn't seen him in a couple of years. So I was very saddened to see he had passed. Thoughts and prayers are with you!!
Gloria, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of Mike. He was always very good to me. He took me into Mt. Zion several times before I got my drivers license. And of course he was always good for a game of basketball! May God rest his soul.Tim, Sara, Luke, Liv and Walker Smith
